Demolition crane

Demolition crane
At the junction of Falconberg Mews and Falconberg Court between the Astoria block and 1-6 Facolnberg Court.

You can see the top of this crane from St Giles Circus as it pokes over the sheeted scaffolding. This is the base.

The building to the left is 1-6 Falconberg Court. Described by Crossrail (in the environmental statement) as:

"The mid-late Victorian warehouse building at 1/6 Falconberg Court is not a particularly interesting example of its type, although it does reflect the area’s 19th Century manufacturing role."

Ooh! Environmental impact statement!

Ooh! Environmental impact statement!
Just bought some shoes and I am impressed that the packaging shows some info about the energy consumption in production. It does not go far enough though, as it depends for example on how the energy was released – solar is cleaner than coal! Not sure that the statement about child labour in terms of a percentage is hepful – what company is going to say "child labour: 12%"? Still.. good to see progress on responsible living.
